Self-taught financial blogger Relebohile Kabelo, realised that Basotho lack financial knowledge and is assisting such through his blog titled The Capitalist Mosotho (TCM).

The blog is run by Kabelo and Bataung Arnold Khotso Pitso who is gifted in software marketing.

The Capitalist Mosotho is a financial blog that was created in November 2021 which informs people about Lesotho finances as well as to teach people about certain products from financial institutions based in Lesotho.

He mentioned Boliba Credit and Savings saying that Basotho do not know that it can help in terms of savings.

In an interview with theReporter this week, the 22-year old said that Basotho really do not know what services and programmes banks provide.

He disclosed that for years, he has served as a useful source to those seeking inspiration, help and advice, he therefore decided to own that role of enhancing knowledge on finances.

“I founded The Capitalist Mosotho with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and I have been at it ever since.

“This includes a creation of a financial blog where people can read up and be literate in finances,” Kabelo said.

Born in Ha Pita in Maseru, he said it all started after experiencing psychosis in 2018 when he was in Form D class.

Kabelo took a four months break and learnt about Forex which he learnt that trading is a hobby instead people thinking it’s a way of making money.

The self-taught financial blogger said that 80 percent of people do not know about Maseru security markets or even bonds.

He began learning economics in 2020 and started with posts on the social media platform Facebook about finances.

“At one point I would make posts asking people who print money and regulate it until I bought and read a book in August 2020 titled Understanding South African Financial Markets, the book is a summary of financial markets based in SA.

“I got answers in the book and that is where I learned about bonds and therefore started my blog from reading books about finances,” he explained.

The Capitalist Mosotho said that as time goes on, he is looking to have business conversation “because TCM does not like the idea of small business, but rather wants to discuss everything so that people get and understand businesses.”

Kabelo said his subscribers stand at 43 and says his target market is anyone with a smart phone.

Kabelo who has been alone for three years got to make money in different ways says he is gifted in selling.

He is financially independent because he makes money by selling books from which he gains commission from the sales.

He explained that people think gambling is bad and addictive, but says there are websites that are legal for customers to bet.

Kabelo says since they have not found ways to monetize the blog, they “want to monetise it through books which we sell.”

Kabelo, who has read more than 20 books that teach about Forex and four about finances, said The Capitalist Mosotho’s plan is to give summary of books then give prices of the very same books.
