The Lesotho National Dairy Board (LNDB) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Lesotho Agricultural College (LAC) on Monday this week.
LNDB’s mandate is to develop, promote and regulate Lesotho’s dairy industry therefore, the board came to a realization that it cannot carry out this mandate on its own hence the board took the decision to partner with LAC.
The chief executive officer (CEO) for LNDB, Abiel Mashale said the main objective of this partnership to is to have a dairy industry that has been established by the experts from LAC as we have realized that there is a dearth of knowledge on how to take care and grow the dairy industry in the country.
“Therefore, with the help of LAC the board will be able to achieve its goal. With this partnership we aim to produce cows in the country,” LNDB CEO said.
He mentioned that they have worked with LAC before the signing of the partnership.
“LNDB and LAC have assisted farmers in procuring 150 cows from South Africa (SA).” Mashale declared.
The principal for LAC, Tṧepang Mantutle said the partnership with LNDB will help increase productivity and strengthen good relations with LNDB, especially in attaining community engagement.
