Two hundred post graduates from the National University of Lesotho (NUL) finally assured of sponsorship to further their studies and will be signing loan bursary contracts with the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS) on Wednesday this week.
This was disclosed by the minister of development planning Selibe Mochoboroane when he met with the students at the NMDS offices on Monday, after they had struggled to secure sponsorship from the government agency.
Mochoboroane said there had been administrative glitches between NUL and NMDS caused by the university’s delay to submit lists to aspiring post-graduate candidates.
“I met with both the council and management of NMDS to hammer out a solution to the challenge, hence the new development.
“NMDS wrote about three letters to NUL requesting a list of students who had been admitted to different post-graduate programmes. But there were delays on the part of NUL.”
Mochoroane said the NMDS council finally convened and resolved that 200 post-graduate students will be sponsored.
