The Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro says health services in Lesotho will only be offered to people who have vaccinated against Covid-19.
In a televised address on Monday this week, Majoro indicated that patients seeking services at health facilities will be required to produce a Covid-19 vaccination card.
Majoro said when the Covid-19 vaccine rollout first started, government set itself a target to vaccinate at least 1.6 million Basotho by December 2021, but only 830 000 have been vaccinated so far.
He added that a vaccination initiative for children aged between the ages of 12-17 has also begun, although it has got off to a slow start because a lot of Basotho have not received their jabs.
“Even though Covid-19 cases continue to rise, we do not see the need to move from blue-coloured restriction level we are currently in or enforce tighter restrictions. Let us just continue to abide by the Covid regulations.
“The government makes all regulations meant to curb the spread of Covid-19 with the advice from the Attorney General and if anyone feels aggrieved, they are free to seek redress from the courts of law,” Majoro said.
