The National Reforms Authority (NRA) will hold a three-day stakeholder’s consultative forum from tomorrow at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre.
According to a statement from NRA the key objectives of the forum, to be held under the theme, “The Path Towards Sustainable Peace, National unity and Reconciliation”, are threefold.
“Firstly, the forum will afford stakeholders an opportunity to discuss and agree on issues and approaches to achieve sustainable peace, national unity and healing, and reconciliation.
“Secondly, the stakeholders will deliberate on the transitional justice mechanisms that are suitable for Lesotho context in line with Plenary Il decisions. Finally, the gathering is expected to engender consensus among Basotho on national reconciliation, and afford victims a platform for engagement with a view to promoting healing and reconciliation.
“This auspicious forum is the offspring of the NRA Act which provides that the key objective of the reforms is to promote stakeholder consensus on the key objective of the reforms and long-term national stability, unity, and reconciliation.
The Act further provides under that one of the functions of the NRA is to recommend and formulate plans for structures for dialogue on National reforms, for purposes of National Peace-building and Reconciliation.”
