Duo produces local coffee brand

Two marketers Tumelo Lipholo and Litšitso Sibolla officially launched their coffee brand known as KOFI on Wednesday this week at Makoanyane Square in Maseru city centre.

Many of their followers on Facebook social media platform were seen flooding the area from as early as 8:00am.

Speaking with theReporter, Lipholo said they opted for coffee firstly “because it is winter and, secondly, there are hardly any street vendors selling coffee in Maseru.”

He added that in most cases coffee is sold and served in restaurants where it is sold at high prices for most consumers to afford.

Twenty-five year-old Lipholo who is also a content creator, explained that “what is different with our coffee selling is the fact that one gets photographed so as to maintain a personal level with the consumer.

“From next week there will be a topic discussed through over a cup of coffee; we want to build a good image,” he added.

In a media post, Lipholo said that being in the Mountain Kingdom is a blessing and sometimes a curse.

“One could be wearing a jacket, gloves, a hat track pants but still feel cold when going to school or work in the morning. That is why we opted for production of the blend in a country which is very cold in winter,” he explained, adding that the KOFI they make warms their customers.

“Just because you are in the coldest country in Africa doesn’t mean you have to freeze to death,” Lipholo said.

For his part, 29-year old Sibolla explained that drinking the coffee makes people to be proud of themselves and comfortable.

 “We have noted that our people actually debate issues while enjoying the blend that we make,” Sibolla stated.

KOFI is our solution to beating the cold weather, especially for those customers of ours who are non-alcohol drinkers.

The duo is planning to supply the beverage until the advent of summer.

In addition, they wish to deliver to their customers who are unable to reach them in the city centre.
