The auditorium of the ministry of health was a buzzing hive of activity today, which marked the first day for the vaccination of members of the media fraternity against Covid-19.
When theReporter visited the auditorium around 11:00am, it was teeming with media practitioners who were enthusiastically looking forward to the AstraZeneca jab.
The public relations officer of the ministry of health, ‘Mateboho Mosebekoa, explained that the media is classified under the same category as comorbidities – chronic diseases such as TB, HIV/AIDS as well as cancer.
Mosebekoa added that, Monday was specially set aside for vaccination of media practitioners and that those that failed to take the jab will then have go to different health facilities
A journalist from one of the local newspapers, Ntsoaki Motaung, told this publication that she was delighted that media personnel are a part of the first batch of people to be vaccinated.
Motaung indicated that journalists’ lives are at risk as they go to different places and engage with different people.
“We are very grateful that the ministry has thought of us,” Motaung added.
