Lesotho Flour Mills this week celebrated over one million of man’s hours work without lost time injury.
A lost-time injury is something that results in a fatality, permanent disability or time lost from work.
Lesotho Flour Mills’ safety officer Stephen Suoane said this is a big achievement because it shows the company’s commitment not only to the staff but also the stakeholders, of providing a safe and protected environment.
He indicated that the last time they had an injury was in October 2019, and they are working hard to make sure that such incidents never happen.
“This is by far our first celebration and the first time that we went on such a long time without any injuries, so it is important for us to celebrate such occasions. It is a big achievement not only for us but our employees as well,” he said.
Lesotho Flour Mills chief executive officer Joao Goncalves said to them as a company, safety is important and they are delighted to have achieved over a million hours without any injury.
“We are not where we want to be, but we are delighted to have achieved so much especially in a company where we work with such heavy and dangerous machinery,” he said.
