In preparation for the Face of Beauty International pageant to be held in the Philippines later this year, the Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho will stage the Face of Lesotho 2021 beauty pageant in Maseru next month.
Face of Lesotho is the second biggest national beauty pageant after Miss Lesotho, registered under the Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho.
Its purpose is to educate young people in life skills, promote local talent and have an aggressive presence in different activities in the country.
The pageant will be hosting its ninth coronation at Maseru Avani on April 3 where the reigning queen, Boitumelo Sehlotho, will be handing over her tiara to the new queen.
The director of the pageant, Lintle Setho told theReporter that the pageant is different from other local pageants because the winner does not just wear the crown but further goes on to represent the country in an international pageant.
The pageant was initially scheduled to be in April 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic put paid to it and auditions were moved to August 2020 for the 2021 pageant. The top 10 contestants were chosen in December at a gala dinner.
Setho observed that people’s attitude towards beauty pageants has changed significantly, as the competitions have become increasingly acceptable and popular of the years.
“People are now looking forward to this pageant; ticket sales indicate growing demand as they are sold in large numbers. Revelers should expect glam and dedicated contestants.
“There are a series of activities leading up to the grand finale, including a contest group project which saw contestants participating in distributing food parcels to street kids. Some were doing gender based violence dialogues in schools
“A M10 000 prize will be given to the winner of the Face of Lesotho 2021 pageant,” Setho revealed. We plead with parents to support their children because that goes a long way.
