The ministry of public works says it has suspended all services, in line with the nationwide lockdown declared by the Prime minister to curb the spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

The ministry indicated that, in spite of this, its staff will be on standby to provide services classified as essential.

The ministry’s department of building design services will not completely close its buildings maintenance section so as to deal with emergencies at government buildings.

“Our country is experiencing torrential rains since towards the end of 2020; roads and bridges are badly damaged and at some places we get mudslides and rock falls that completely block drive ways.

“The Roads Directorate is in the processes of securing contractors that will specifically be attending to the emergencies as a result of these rainy weathers,” the ministry said.
