Qoaling community members together with the Lesotho Mounted Police Services, Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro, and Police and Public Safety Minister Mamoipone Senauoana have celebrated the launch of a new police post.
Spokesperson of the association representing Qoaling, Teboho Molapo, said the new police post would bring a sense of safety to the community,
Reporting on an earlier development, Molapo said the association visited Lorreto Mission on 13 September, where they apologised to the church for anti-social and criminal activities carried out by unruly community members.
The crimes included the raping of the nuns.
Molapo said representatives of the association were accompanied by Principal Chief of Thaba Bosiu, Morena Khoabane Theko, and Police Commissioner Holomo Molibeli.
“After the police commissioner Holomo Molibeli was touched by that event he said our community deserves to have the police post,” recalled Molapo.
“We worked together to organise a site on behalf of the police and today in less than two months here we are.”
Qoaling Re Lelapa Association was founded in August this year by the community to tackle several social challenges.
Initially, when the association was formed by a handful of women it focused on burial and celebration finances. However, when the membership expanded it took on more roles that include tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.
