Going through a period of bad skin has led to ‘Makhalalelo Mosoeu producing her own skin products by the name of Leafglow Health and Beauty Products.

Mosoeu is now the proud owner of one of the more well-known skin products in the country, that are locally made.

Speaking to theReporter, Mosoeu says she started by just experimenting on her own skin with purslane and when she was healed, she helped a friend and months later it was all business.

“I was surprised because I had bought and used so many skin products but they did not work; instead they were just making my skin lighter. When a friend of mine saw my skin she wanted to try what I had used. That is when I made her the toner and the soap that I used.

“Her skin was healed too within weeks and I realised that this was something that I could do to help other women going through the same skin problems” she said.

She explained that getting into the skin products business has been an exciting journey because she likes empowering other women and being in business. She says it gave her the empowerment herself because she is now independent.

She said seeing that her products still kept women in their natural skin color while they were using them instead of lightening their skins motivated her most, because many women end up bleaching their skins just to get rid of pimples.

She said the aim of her products is to make women feel comfortable in their own skin.

She makes soaps, scrubs, toners and masks. She said many women seem to love her products, which makes her happy because that means she contributes to women feeling confident about themselves.

“With the unemployment that is hitting the country so hard, I am able to sell in bulk so that other people can also earn money. This makes me feel like I am contributing to job creation,” she said.

She enthused that her products are now sold in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Swaziland.
