The Lesotho National Federation for the Organizations of the Disabled (LNFOD) says it has been waiting for the National COVID-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) to address its urgent demands, for over a month.

According to LNFOD’s monthly newsletter for September, the organisation met with Nacosec through its advocacy task team on August 12 to present their demands and needs, which include the representation of LNFOD member in Nacosec, and an M800 monthly disability grants.  They also say public information on Covid-19 should be made accessible to people with different forms of disability.

“They promised us another meeting to find solutions to our needs and demands, but until now we haven’t heard from them,” the executive director of LNFOD, Nkhasi Sefuthi said.

He noted that disabled people are the most vulnerable to this pandemic as most of them rely on physical support while some have lung diseases, which puts them at an even greater risk.
