The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) is once again diving into the online information world with the relaunch of the Lesotho Trade Information Portal (LTIP) which will put Lesotho on par with other nations in terms of access to information.

The Lesotho trade portal was first launched in March 2014 under the then Ministry of Trade and Industry Cooperatives and Marketing and was managed by the Ministry.

LTIP is a single integrated website that provides complete, timely and up-to-date information about the Kingdom of Lesotho import, export and transit procedures. The portal is an important platform initiated by the Government of Lesotho, through the support of the World Bank/International Finance Corporation (IFC), aimed at improving the access, predictability and transparency of the country’s trading laws and processes.

The initiative is also in line with the government’s commitment to implement the World Trade Organisation Trade Facilitation Agreement (WTOTFA) Article 1 which states that countries shall provide the public with information, on the internet regarding import, export and transit procedures.

The objective of this agreement is to expedite movement, release and clearance of goods and to reduce time and costs of cross border trade.
