As part of its Covid-19 relief initiative, Standard Lesotho Bank on Tuesday donated an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward to the Christian Health Association of Lesotho’s (CHAL) Maluti Adventist Hospital in Mapoteng Berea.
The ICU equipment is worth M1.2m. Maluti is the second hospital in the country to have an ICU ward. The other one is the Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital.
Standard Lesotho Bank marketing manager and communications officer Kheleli Manyathela said the bank is also affected by Covid19 because its workers are sons and daughters of Basotho who, like everyone else, are also exposed to the virus.
Manyathela said that is why the bank saw it fit to do something to help in the fight against the pandemic.
“We then decided that donating this ICU equipment would be one of the greatest helps that we can do. We were told by someone that there are highly skilled people here in Mapoteng. So since we are trying to help in the relief against Covid-19, ICU equipment is one of the important equipment to help infected people.”
