4D Climate Solutions yesterday held a transformative meeting in Maseru, where key stakeholders discussed innovative technologies aimed at revolutionising agriculture and promoting sustainability in Lesotho.

Themed “Innovating for a Sustainable Future,” the event featured prominent figures such as the principal secretary for the ministry of natural resources, Relebohile Lebeta.

Lebeta emphasized the necessity of integrating modern technologies like Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and renewable energy to combat pressing issues such as natural resource degradation and food insecurity in the country.

Throughout the evening, experts shared groundbreaking insights into sustainable practices.

Matsolo Migwi from ReNOKA addressed the effects of climate change on vulnerable communities, advocating for integrated catchment management.

Dr. Uttam Kumar from RMSI introduced remote sensing technologies that enable farmers to monitor crop health effectively, while Dr Poloko Mosebi from the National University of Lesotho showcased a climate-smart poultry project utilising smart tech in agriculture.

A standout moment was the presentation by the CEO of SunMoksha, Dr Ashok Das, who discussed precision agriculture initiative rooted in Gandhi’s principles.

The event culminated in the launch of GrowSmart Insurance, Lesotho’s inaugural agricultural insurance product, merging IoT and AI with traditional coverage to safeguard farmers against climate risks.
