The Roads Directorate has embarked on a M19 million government-funded maintenance project of major roads across the country’s 10 districts.
The Mokoari Project, also known as Operation Kata-Kata, was launched in August this year and is set to be completed by February of 2024.
The government has provided a total of M18 879 600 for the works.
Supervision of the project will be done by the Roads Directorate staff while labour will be provided by an estimated 1890 community members residing along the project roads.
Work being done includes patching of potholes, removal of debris and enhancement of road safety and aesthetics to ensure smoother and safer roads for motorists.
Work also includes clearing of side drains, unblocking of culverts and provision of erosion control scour checks that will prevent waterlogging and essentially protect roads from negative environmental impact.
