Koeneng Community Council in Bela-Bela in the Berea district on Friday held a farewell ceremony for outgoing councillors.
In an interview with theReporter, the chairperson of Koeneng Council, Pheta Letsoela, said the event was meant to celebrate the councillors for their work during their term.
He noted that the council decided to honour them during the last official sitting.
“As you are aware, only one week is left before the local government elections, and there is no better time to thank the outgoing councillors than this,” Letsoela said.
He added that this term the minister of local government had decided not to dissolve the councils three months ahead of the September 29, 2023 elections.
