The portfolio Committee on Law and public Safety Cluster has presented a report on the Law Society (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the National Assembly.
The purpose of the bill is to amend section 9 (2) of the Law Society Act No.13 of 1983 with a view to extending the term of council from one to three years.
The Bill was first presented by the committee chairperson, Mokhothu Makhalanyane, on May 27 2024. He indicated that this Bill seeks to promote continuity, stability and adequate for implementation of council resolutions and initiatives.
The committee on Monday this week recommended that the House adopts the Bill as amended.
