Lehlohonolo Seitlheko, a rising star in the world of electronic dance music, is making a name for himself on the international stage.

Seitlheko, a 25-year old from Mafeteng, holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Despite his technical background, his passion for music has propelled him into the competitive DJing industry.

In an interview with theReporter, Seitlheko recounts that his love for music began in primary school in 2010.

“I would load music onto CDs and ask our school bus driver to play them on our way to and from school,” he recalled.

Inspired by industry giants such as Black Coffee and Zakes Bantwini, Seitlheko initially found music production daunting. However, he soon discovered the art of mixing and began his journey as a DJ.

“I started mixing Amapiano in 2022 and secured my first residency as a DJ in the same year at a club in Johannesburg,” he said.

Seitlheko’s breakthrough came when he began collaborating with well-known artists such as MacG from Podcast and Chill and Nkanyezi Kubheka, who played a significant role in helping him gain recognition. His mixes have since been featured on various digital platforms, further cementing his presence in the industry.

His ultimate goal is to continue producing music, build a strong fan base, and establish himself as a globally recognised DJ.

“I always carry Black Coffee’s inspirational words, ‘trust your dopeness.’ Those words guide me and have shaped my journey,” he said.

However, Seitlheko acknowledges the challenges that come with being a DJ. He faces intense competition in an oversaturated market, the pressure to constantly innovate, and the need to stay ahead of rapidly changing music trends and technology.

Maintaining a personal brand and engaging with fans on social media also demands consistent effort and creativity.

“The lifestyle can lead to physical and mental fatigue, making it essential for me to find a balance between my passion and personal well-being,” he added.

Despite these hurdles, Seitlheko remains committed to his craft and continues to make strides in the electronic dance music industry. With his talent and determination, he is undoubtedly a name to watch on the international stage.
