Maluti Mountain Brewery (MMB) yesterday presented some lucky customers with grand prizes, including a car and four double door refrigerators full of beers and ciders.
Four winners in the bronze and silver categories received double-door fridges fully stocked with beer and ciders, while the single gold category winner, ‘Masekonyela Molefi of Easy Way Public bar, took home the grand prize of a Nissan MP 200 car.
Winners under the silver category who scored 80 to 90 percent are Boitseko Tavern and Come and See Public bar. Under the bronze category, Limpho Tavern and Thabang Lekoantlela Public bar won the prize for scoring 70 to 80 percent.
In an interview with theReporter on the sideline of the event, MMB Sales Manager, Paki Lets’osa explained that it was held to appreciate public bars and tavern owners as part of the company’s ‘Ngatafatso’ scheme.
He said the scheme aims to support small businesses and help them grow, which in turn contributes to the overall economic development of communities.
According to Lets’osa, ‘Ngatafatso’ provides a monthly rebate of M1 for every case of beer purchased by a participating bar or tavern.
The rebate then accumulates over the course of the year and awarded to businesses that demonstrate exceptional performance.
“By returning this money to our customers, we encourage reinvestment into their businesses, which ultimately leads to growth and job creation,” Lets’osa noted.
He added that the scheme’s generous rewards underscore MMB’s commitment to supporting local businesses, which are essential for the economic development of communities throughout Lesotho.
Molefe Lephats’oe, one of the silver category winners, was thrilled with his double-door fridge stocked with beer, saying the prize would significantly increase his profits and help him serve his customers better.
“This prize will allow me to stock more beer in my tavern, which will mean that I can serve my customers better,” Lephats’oe said.
He credited the success of his business and the Ngatafatso scheme to the support and guidance he received from MMB’s sales representatives.
“The targets set by the Ngatafatso scheme were challenging,” Lephats’oe admitted, “but the sales reps were very helpful in assisting me to achieve them”.
A total of 277 public bars and taverns participated in the scheme this year.
