A bus carrying 75 SUN JV employees overturned near Afri Ski Resort in Botha Bothe yesterday, leaving scores injured and prompting immediate emergency response.

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) confirmed the accident involving SUN JV employees returning to their project site after the weekend.

Emergency response teams from the LHWP II project and Letṧeng Mine quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

A total of 56 injured workers were transported to the Letseng Mine Clinic for initial evaluation. From there, 35 were transferred to Mokhotlong Hospital, while 13 others were taken to the SUN JV site clinic for observation.

Additionally, four workers were sent to Butha Buthe for further observation, and another four were transported to Maseru for treatment. The remaining 19 uninjured workers were safely returned to the site via taxi. To ensure the mental well-being of all involved, trauma counselling has been arranged.

The LHDA expressed gratitude to all emergency responders and emphasized the importance of driving carefully, particularly in mountainous areas. They remain committed to the safety and well-being of all employees and their families during this challenging time.
