Lesotho Music Blog is rebranding to a digital magazine to be known as Melodscape.

The co-founder of Lesotho Music Blog, Malibe Mahao, says he established the venture in 2019 out of his passion for music.

The 20-year old third year broadcasting and journalism student at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology hails from Malealea in Mafeteng district.

“The Lesotho Music Blog was born out of my passion for music. Although I cannot sing due to my dislike of my own voice, I wanted to find another way to contribute to the music industry. Creating the blog became my alternative means of making a meaningful impact in the world of music,” he said.

In an interview with theReporter, Mahao noted, “The Lesotho Music Blog has been a trusted source of music news and artist features for years. However, as the industry continues to grow and diversify, they noticed how they have outgrown a simple blog and recognised the need for a platform that reflects the dynamic and multifaceted nature of Lesotho’s music scene.

Furthermore, he explained that the name ‘Melodscape’ symbolises the rich and varied landscape of melodies, rhythms, and stories that define the nation’s music.

“This transformation allows us to go beyond blogging into a full-fledged digital magazine format, offering in-depth features, visuals, and curated insights. Digital content will be released on the second Friday of every month, with fresh stories, and reviews,” Mahao said.

He stated that their mission is to create a platform that celebrates the heartbeat of Lesotho’s music culture.

Melodscape magazine aims to inspire, inform, and connect every person who contributes to and enjoys their nation’s music, he indicated.

Mahao added that the rebranding is a step towards shaping the future of Lesotho’s music narrative, ensuring that artists and their stories reach local and international audiences. This rebranding is done to improve the already existing landscape in the music industry and bringing an essence of digital media to the current market.

“This transformation reflects a broader vision and a renewed commitment to celebrating and promoting music in all its form. “With a fresh identity and digital first approach, Melodscope aims to continue to be a platform that uplifts and supports the music industry. This evolution is not just a change but a bold step forward in redefining how music is experienced, shared, and appreciated,” he concluded.
