The Lesotho Art Fair returns for its second edition, promising to elevate local artists and connect them with a broader audience.

Organised by Mphohlela Ralethoko, affectionately known as Uncle Donze, the event is set to take place on August 10, 2025.

The annual fair aims to showcase the talent of Lesotho artists, many of whom are yet to gain the recognition they deserve.

Ralethoko envisions the show as a launching pad for these artists, providing them with a platform to bring their work to the world.

This year’s fair promises to be bigger and better than its inaugural edition.

The venue, which is still to be confirmed, will accommodate a larger audience, allowing more guests to experience the vibrant art scene of Lesotho. Ralethoko said the fair is designed for individuals aged 18 and above, ensuring a mature atmosphere where art enthusiasts can engage deeply with the pieces on display.

The Lesotho Art Fair not only serves as a showcase for artists but also plays a vital role in the local economy. By attracting buyers and clients, the show creates opportunities for artists to sell their work and gain financial independence.

Ralethoko believes that this event will help shift perceptions about art, illustrating that it is not merely a hobby but a viable career path.

By connecting young artists with consumers and potential investors, the fair fosters a community that values creativity and artistic expression.

While the focus remains on local talent, Ralethoko mentioned the possibility of inviting international art galleries to participate.

Although they do not currently have international investors, the organisers are actively seeking sponsorships to enhance the fair’s offerings. This openness to collaboration could pave the way for future editions to include a more diverse range of artistic voices.

At the heart of the Lesotho Art Fair is the desire to uplift and empower artists. Each piece sold will come with documentation, ensuring that buyers have proof of their investment in local talent.

As the show approaches, excitement is building around the potential it holds for both artists and art lovers alike.

With the right support and recognition, the Lesotho Art Fair could become a cornerstone of the regional art scene, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and creativity of Lesotho.
