The former team of Miss Spring Lesotho is introducing a brand new and innovative pageant to be known as Queen of Lesotho, which is scheduled to take place early next year.

Queen of Lesotho coordinator of events and media, Tṧepo Mosoeu, says the competition was founded this year by the former coordinating team of Miss Spring Lesotho who, after six successful years of hosting the Miss Spring contest, decided to spread their wings and pursue a new venture.

“The decision was prompted by the realisation that a lot of pageants lack inclusivity, hence the rebranding that culminated in the Queen of Lesotho concept,” Mosoeu said.

He explained the new initiative has a vision that encompasses a wider array of programmes, including leadership development, equality, community outreach and educational opportunities.

”We are very much dedicated to providing contestants with the tools and resources they need to become ambassadors if change in their communities,” he noted.

Mosoeu indicated that as part of this transformation, they will be unveiling their new logo, motto, enhanced social presence, and a series of events designed to engage the public and showcase the talents of their contestants.

He described the new venture as ‘a new era’ that will feature innovative competitions, workshops, boot camp, and community service initiatives that resonate with their core values as an organisation.

“We issued an official statement on the rebranding before inviting aspiring contestants to come forward to register for the big event which is expected to be staged next year.  This is a significant milestone for our country, as it not only celebrates beauty but also empowers women and showcases our rich culture and diversity,” Mosoeu said

In a recent interview with theReporter, Mosoeu was optimistic about the potential impact the Queen of Lesotho pageant.

He enthused that the new pageant is an opportunity to redefine the meaning of what beauty means in a society.

“It can promote confidence, self-esteem, and leadership among young women. Additionally, it can inspire the community to support local talents and celebrate their heritage.

“My hope is for the Queen of Lesotho pageant to grow and evolve into a respected institution that not only highlights beauty but also emphasizes intelligence, compassion, and social responsibility.

“I envision it becoming a platform where contestants can advocate for causes that they are passionate about, be it education, health, or environmental issues. Ultimately, I hope it fosters a sense of unity and pride among Basotho, showcasing the incredible talent and potential of our women on both a national and international stage,” Mosoeu concluded.
