2024 Roof of Africa promises thrills

The 55th Roof of Africa Hard Enduro will roar into action from November 28 to 30, 2024, at a local hotel and, as usual, it promises adrenaline-packed excitement.

The Roof of Africa, a legendary Hard Enduro event, is set to captivate motorsport enthusiasts once again as it returns for its 55th edition.

Originally slated for early November, the event was rescheduled to accommodate feedback from the riding community, particularly young riders from schools and universities.

Owned by the Lesotho Off-road Association (LORA), the Roof of Africa is renowned for its challenging 250 – 350 km race that unfolds over three exhilarating days.

Participants will navigate the breath-taking landscapes of the Maloti Mountains, with routes tailored for enduro, off-road, and adventure bikes.

Unlike many other competitions, the Roof of Africa does not require qualifying races, making it accessible to a wider range of riders eager to test their mettle.

The event features four classes: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Iron, each offering a unique level of difficulty. The Gold class is reserved for the most skilled and daring riders, while the Iron class provides a less intense but still demanding experience.

The festivities will kick off on November 27 with registration. This initial stage will ensure that all equipment is in peak condition, setting the stage for an unforgettable racing experience.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Likotsi Lemeke, Chief Marshall for the Roof of Africa, emphasized the international significance of the race, which has been a fixture on the motorsport calendar since 1967.

Bereng Ntaote from the association’s public relations office detailed the race’s route, which will begin at the Maseru Mall Circle.

Riders will then traverse a challenging course that includes Katlehong Road, the Parliament Route, and Avani Lesotho Road, before looping back through Lesotho Funeral Services and Lesotho Correctional Services to White City.

As the countdown begins, excitement is building among participants and spectators alike.

The Roof of Africa promises not only a test of endurance and skill but also a celebration of the adventurous spirit that defines Hard Enduro racing.

With its breath-taking scenery and thrilling challenges, the 2024 Roof of Africa is set to be an unforgettable spectacle.
