The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), an event that takes place in different countries ahead of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties, will take place from Monday to Tuesday next week in Maseru.
LCOY focuses on climate-related topics which have high national or regional importance, discuss and develop respective outputs, which are fed into the Global COY and consequently into the climate negotiations on a global scale.
LCOY is organised by youth to ensure that their voices are heard in global climate discussions. These conferences serve as a platform for young people to exchange knowledge, raise awareness about climate issues, and prepare collective statements or actions for COP, they contribute directly to the global COY.
“LCOY is crucial for empowering youth, promoting climate education, and enhancing youth participation in environmental policy making on a national and international level.”
