RSL, DCEO collaboration pays off

Revenue Lesotho Services (RSL) and the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offence (DCEO) say they have made significant strides in their collaborative efforts against corruption and other economic offences.

RSL commissioner general, ‘Mathabo Mokoko, reiterated the organisation’s commitment to securing government funding, promoting a fair tax environment, ensuring financial stability, and eliminating corruption within its ranks.

The objectives are part of the RSL’s “LESOKOANA” strategy for 2024-2027, which was launched in December 2023 and put into action in April 2024.

“One of the strategic moves that the RSL embarked on was to elevate its collaboration with its critical strategic partner, the DCEO,” Mokoko said during a joint press conference by the RSL and the DCEO on Friday.

This strategic move was prompted by the identification of corrupt practices within the ranks of RSL employees, she noted.

She added that joint investigations have led to some dismissals and prosecution of RSL staff implicated in crime.

Several current RSL and former employees recently appeared in court charged with various offences including corruption, bribery, and money laundering.
