The ministry of environment and forestry, Letsema Adontṧi yesterday announced the seasonal weather updates aimed at creating public awareness on immediate and mid-term weather conditions.

The minister said, according to the Lesotho Meteorological Service (LMS), the majority of Lesotho is forecasted to experience below-average rainfall from October to December 2024.

“However, exceptions are anticipated in the southern and extreme northern regions, where normal to above-average precipitation levels are expected during the same period.

“The period from November 2024 to January 2025 is characterised by above-average rainfall, with many regions anticipated to experience normal to above normal precipitation. In contrast, the outlook from January to March indicates a probability of normal to above normal rainfall.

“The anticipated heavy rainfalls, which are expected to exceed normal levels, do not guarantee the success or failure of crops, as further assessments and preparations are needed based on the weather forecast,” the LMS noted.
