The recent 44th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the SADC has hailed the progress made by Lesotho towards implementing national reforms.

The conference also urged Lesotho’s political parties in parliament to expedite the passage of the Omnibus Bill.

It further commended the SADC Panel of Elders led by former president of the United Republic of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, and the Mediation Reference Group, for their ongoing support to the comprehensive reforms process in Lesotho.

The summit was held under the theme “Promoting Innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth and development towards an Industrialised SADC’’.

The theme recognised that innovation is a fundamental instrument with significant potential to drive priority sectors of manufacturing, mineral beneficiation and agro-processing to enhance industrialisation and economic growth of the region.
