Tšoanelo Mongali of Qacha’s Nek was the lucky winner of a brand new Nissan NP-200 in the latest SASAI Financial Services, a subsidiary of Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL), competition.
The grand prize that was won on Friday was the first since the EcoCash Tobetsa competition commenced in May this year.
Speaking at the event, Mongali said the prize has brought joy and awe to him and his family as it would assist him to perform his daily duties effectively.
Mongali noted that he became the lucky winner because he was buying calling bundles through EcoCash Tobetsa and using EcoCash services for all his transactions.
He stated that he spent not more than M500 in all the transactions.
“I think in all those transactions I did not use anything more than M500. I became part of this competition because I was hopeful that one day, I will be a winner.
“I encourage all Econet subscribers to take part in this competition. It is real. Initially, we had thought people from the urban areas were the only eligible winners, but today we see it happening here in Qacha’s Nek.
“I am very much thankful to Econet for bringing back to community with competitions such as this once. We don’t even have to spend much in order to become winners, it is pure luck,” Mongali noted.
Speaking on behalf of SASAI Financial Services general manager, Ketja Nhlapo indicated that the EcoCash Tobetsa campaign was an innovative initiative aimed at celebrating the use of EcoCash while positively transforming livelihoods across the country.
He emphasized that the initiative was not only about winning prices but was also meant to empower Econet subscribers.
Nhlapo further indicated that to participate in the competition, subscribers must transact on the EcoCash platform.
According to him, the subscribers can do so by buying bundles, paying bills and paying merchants. With EcoCash, he said customers can perform a variety of financial transactions, including sending and receiving money, paying bills, and purchasing airtime, all from the convenience of their mobile phones. To enter the competition, customers can dial *100# or *199# or use the EcoCash App.
“Subscribers who have bought the exclusive bundles that have additional benefits, bought entries or transacted, will accumulate points which will enter them into a random draw to win weekly cash prizes and one of the three Nissan NP-200 grand prizes.
“Today we are here to witness when Ntate Mongali walks away with his Nissan, there are two more left to be won by lucky subscribers from around the country.
“We are thrilled to announce him as our first prize winner. We encourage the you (customers) to keep participating in the campaign. Ntate Mongali and others who have won incredible prizes prove that this campaign is a vital step in empowering our customers across the country,” he added,
In addition to that, Nhlapho noted that weekly winners can walk away with cash prizes ranging from M1000 to a whopping M30, 000 along with smartphones.
In a pre-emptive move to protect subscribers from potential scams, Nhlapo warned against bribery and corruption.
“I want to remind all our subscribers not to fall for any scam claiming to be able to be able to guarantee a win in our competitions. The only to win is to enter the competitions fairly and to be selected randomly,” he pointed out.
