Lesotho Post Bank suspended three of its top executives, with immediate effect.
The bank’s chairperson of the board of directors, Advocate ‘Mampe Matela-Mphasa, said the action would allow them to conduct investigations against the trio, while protecting all parties, including witnesses.
Adv Matela-Mphasa announced the suspension of managing director, Molefi Leqhaoe, chief sales officer, ‘Mathabo Lebohang Tshehlo, and digital banking officer, ‘Mamohau Mapota in a statement this week.
In the interim, Lesotho Post Bank has appointed Mahase Mahooana as acting managing director, Thuso Ramatlapeng acting chief digital banking officer, and Lineo Masupha acting chief sales officer.
Lesotho Post Bank marketing manager, Tlali Kele, yesterday declined to comment further on the suspension stating that the bank would issue a public statement at a later stage.
“At the moment, the bank cannot respond to any of your questions on the matter. We’ll release a statement or host a media briefing. The information circulating on social media is enough for now,” Kele added.
The board further urged its employees to refrain from engaging in the matter.
“The board wishes to reassure you that we will continue to uphold good corporate governance standards and always strive for regulatory compliance.
“The suspensions will have no adverse impact on the bank’s operations. The key stakeholders and the public will be notified of the issue,” Adv Matela-Mphasa noted.
