Prime minister Sam Matekane has appointed five new ministers.
Basotho Action Party (BAP) leader, Nqosa Mahao was rewarded with the ministry of energy after rescuing the premier from a vote of no confidence by the opposition. His deputy, Motlatsi Maqelepo, has been appointed minister of tourism, sports, arts and culture.
The member of parliament for Maputsoe constituency under Matekane’s RFP, Stephen Mputi, has been sworn-in as minister of law and justice.
Tšeliso Mokhosi, a proportional representation member of the Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) is now minister of labour and employment.
RFP MP for Mokhotlong constituency, Letsema Adontši got the environment and forestry portifolio.
The appointment of the new cabinet ministers was made by King Letsie III in line with section 87(3) and (4), 89 and 93 of the constitution of Lesotho and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister.
