The Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) will tomorrow award M100,000 each to three businesses under the Smart Youth Fund Project.

The initiative was launched in April 2022 in collaboration with Sekhametsi Investment Consortium and Lesotho Post Bank.

In a statement today, BEDCO acting chief executive officer Tṧepang Tlali said the project is aimed at breeding a new crop of entrepreneurs who can inspire change in the country by creating jobs and not employment seekers.

Tlali explained that the project will provide funding to youth-owned businesses that indicate high potential to benefit other young people.

“The Smart Youth Fund will facilitate access to finance and provide business skills support to high potential agri-based small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); focusing on producers and aggregators of enterprises that have a direct impact on job creation and the local economy,” he said.
