South African vocalist and songwriter Russell Zuma is billed to wow patrons and music lovers when he performs at Ha ‘Masana’s Moonshine Lounge on May 6, 2023.
According to music monitoring and promotion platform Groove Cartel_SA, Zuma is a renowned singer who has redefined what makes a hit song.
“Zuma managed to give his fans hits in two of the most celebrated genres in South Africa, namely Soulful House and Amapiano.
“His gentle caress of the microphone has serenaded music lovers and established him as voice of smooth soulful dance music,” the organisation explains.
Zuma linked up with Murumba Pitch, George Lesley and Coco SA on this Amapiano song titled Uthando. He is also known for songs like Mathandweni, Angikazi and Kwelizayo.
Speaking with theReporter this week, the manager of Moonshine Lounge, Nkopane Mphutlane, who is popularly known as Kopper Waleh, said the upcoming event is called ‘One-night with Russell Zuma’.
Waleh said he and his team chose to bring Zuma because he is quite big and has a unique voice.
“One-night with Russell Zuma’ is going to stand out in comparison to other events. It is not just about groove but Basotho will also have an opportunity to showcase their art as well as local fashion. Local apparel brands like Tribe and Mr CEO will also be on display. We will provide people with free stalls to sell. However, we are the only ones who well be selling alcohol; we are a lounge looking to maximise profits from the sale of alcohol,” he noted.
“The reason for bringing international artists is that they attract a lot more people than their local counterparts.”
Local acts like Mekonko, P.dee, Kopper Alotsi, PabloDj and Suzan are part of the line-up.
On weekdays, Moonshine Lounge doubles up as a restaurant where people can also hold meetings in a designated private lounge section.
Waleh said they have in the past hosted big names like KnightSA and 2point1, Malome Vector and Ntate Stunna.
The joint has also brought together bikers from Bloemfontein, Johannesburg and Lesotho at an event called Bikers Weekend.
“There is a competition we are running for our regular customers who have pictures on our selfie wall. All they need to do is go to Facebook to upload their pictures from the selfie wall and stand a chance to win tickets to the event.
“You simply upload your photo and tag Moonshine Lounge, then you are in line to win five tickets, otherwise known as ‘squad tickets’. The more Facebook likes you get, the better your chances of winning,” Waleh said.
Tickets can be purchased via Eco-cash, Ticketbox and at the Pick’n’Pay kiosk at Pioneer Mall.
Advance general ticket costs M100 (M150 at the gate) while VIP tickets are going for M250.
