Local events organiser SoftCoffee has announced October 28, 2023 as the date for the second Colour Festival.
SoftCoffee introduced the festival which is now an annual event in October last year.
The debut edition was a success as it managed to attract between 3000 and 3500 people, according to the founder, Tšepo Makhele.
“Surprisingly, we had people from South Africa coming to attend the event,” he said.
He said despite the turn out being satisfactory, the management of the event was not so impressive as a string of “mistakes occurred.” This time around the plan is to avert a repeat of the pitfalls.
“For this year’s event we have decided to hire experts to be part of the organising team. For instance, finance managers, artists booking manager, marketing manager will be part of the team.
“Kamo Mphela is the official partner through her company Kamo Mphela Entertainment (PTY), along with SoftCoffee, the founder of Colour Fest,” Makhele said.
The theme for this year is ‘Kamo Mphela and SoftCoffee Present Colour Fest 2023 supported by her close friends.’
He said the festival will be bringing more than 12 international artists. Mphela will be backed by her close friends.
Mphela is a South African dancer and singer. She became popular after she posted a video of herself dancing on her social media account.
Makhele said he was aware of the negative comments that have been making rounds on social media about the number of international acts adding such remarks always motivate him.
He said a lot of people couldn’t believe that a South African superstar, Nasty C, would show up at the event but he did.
“Here is the law of attraction, when you truly want something and go after it without limiting yourself with disbelief, the universe will make it happen.
“So, the less you respond to negative people, the more peaceful your life will become,” Makhele said.
