Local female DJ Goldhearted says playing at a crowd pulling event in Maseru this past weekend was one of the biggest highlights of her deejaying career since she took a leap of faith in April 2021 to pursue deejaying professionally.
“Playing at the event meant the world to me, it was everything that I have ever wanted.
“It was a beautiful and emotional experience, the crowd’s response was beautiful,” said 24year old Goldhearted whose real name is Moroesi Malebo.
She is known for playing Afrobeats with a fusion of Hiphop. She said she chose these two genres because they are her favourite sounds.
Moroesi is a qualified office administrator and manger from Lerotholi Polytechnic.
She revealed to this paper that she is also a self-made graphic designer who is also in the business of selling Docker hats.
Asked how she got her stage name, she said a close friend wanted her to be the brand ambassador for the Goldhearted clothing brand in Lesotho, but the brand name was later changed to another name.
“So, I couldn’t let the brand go to waste hence the name today”, she said.
Moroesi only started her professional deejaying career in 2021 but she admits that it has been one of her wildest dreams of becoming a renowned DJ in Lesotho and outside Lesotho.
“It has always been what I’ve loved, just that I’d never really taken it that seriously, as in to be in the industry.
“It was just what I did on my PC at home; my brother actually got me into it as he also loved the same thing.
“I then decided I should do it professionally”, she said.
She said since her entry into the industry, the ship has been sailing smoothly but acknowledges that every journey has its up and downs.
“Honestly, it’s been a very beautiful journey, yes I’ve encountered challenges which I’ve been able to overcome
“Some of the challenges I’ve faced are event organizers not paying our booking payment or sometimes being taken for granted, and big names being considered over us”, she said.
She said judging from the fact that she will only be celebrating two years as a DJ a few weeks down the line, she is short of words about how the Goldhearted brand has been performing.
“Honestly, I’m happy for the brand as it is growing daily. It is really getting the recognition it deserves.
She said her ultimate goal right now is to make Afrobeats a culture in the country and this she can attain by moving into events hosting which is top of her list.
Without saying much, she warned her fans to expect boss moves from Goldhearted and she is hoping to attract international bookings.
