BU celebrates yet another milestone

Friday marked the fourth convocation of the Botho University that saw the conferment of degrees to 353 graduates.

Speaking at the auspicious ceremony, the vice chancellor for BU Dr. Sheela Raja Ram said she is sure as the graduates celebrate, their minds are also occupied with what the future holds.

She said as BU they believe the graduates have potential wherever they go.

By saying so, she advised the graduates to be adventurous and go seek new opportunities globally.

“Your success is our central mission and the entire BU community works hard to nurture well-rounded graduates who can succeed anywhere in the world,” she said.

In addition, the pro-vice chancellor (communications) Golekanye Setume said they have received positive feedback from the industries, that proves that BU graduates are doing a good job wherever they are.

Setume said the GEM Institute of Lesotho said the BU students are hardworkers, dedicated and show a high level of commitment and rated them at a 91 percent satisfaction rate.

He said on the other hand, the Land Survey System Engineering Company Lesotho also said BU students are punctual and always complete tasks given to them and gave an 89.5 percent satisfaction rate.

The Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), Econet Telecom Lesotho, Lesotho Institute of Accountants and Standard Lesotho Bank awarded top achieving students with certifacates, money vouchers and cash.

The overall top achiever Itumeleng Malelu from the Faculty of Business and Accounting received among others a fully paid one year internship and a laptop from LNDC.

For his part, the interim chief executive officer of LNDC Molise Ramaili said with the skills the graduates have gained over time, he has absolute trust that the graduates with join hands with the Government of Lesotho in creating and enhancing an entrepreneurial eco-system in the quest of self-employment and job creation.
