Newbie Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) held its star rally at Thota-Moli in Mazenod this past Sunday. It has been hailed as one of biggest rallies ever seen in Lesotho.

From around the morning hours, supporters were heard chanting the party slogan in Maseru and its outskirts.

RFP was formed and launched in March this year by local business mogul Sam Matekane. The new player in the political landscape is convinced it can come up with strategies to eradicate poverty and youth unemployment.

The rally was attended mostly by young people who were also looking forward to listening and seeing international and local musicians and disc jockeys at the festival which followed just after the rally.

Delivering his speech at the rally, leader of the party, Matekane asked people to go in numbers to vote for the party that will bring new developments in the country and enhance the economy of the country.

“Our mandate is to develop the economy of the country since enhancement of the economy goes hand in hand with education. RFP hopes to change the education system so that children are also taught business and production.

“In agriculture, we will support agriculture and make sure that we do not only produce for consumption but also for commercial purposes. We will be involved very much in stock farming.

“We will bring back Lesotho Development Bank which will support all growing businesses and agricultural industry. On creation of jobs, we will make sure our youth are absorbed by mostly the private sector as we will also be mentoring the youth on how to start their business and become business men and women like the best of us,” he told the gathering.

Continued Matekane: “Unemployment is a huge challenge in Lesotho and one thing that is important is to remove all the bottlenecks to doing business, so that all people who are willing to be in business can do so. We are going to sit down with the youth to find out what their challenges are in starting their own businesses.”
