By Neo Kolane

Digital film and television student Ndlandla Vincent Mofolo stands on 10 000 followers on TikTok and is hoping to attract brands.

TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing and discovering short videos.

The app is used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share them across a community.

Ndlandla joined TikTok October 2021 and, after watching several videos, he fell in love with the app and immediately downloaded it.

In an interview with theReporter, Ndlandla explained that he started off by mimicking songs as a challenges, mostly trending songs.

The Botha Bothe Ha Pokane-born lad says people started following him, but they were not so many at the time.

He said his following grows rapidly.

“Having this many followers’ means I am being recognised and the content I post being appreciated. I feel very humbled to see that the country is moving with the times,” Ndlandla said.

He said while learning acting, they were taught as film makers, how they can interact with actors.

“The biggest thing I was taught in the lectures was originality; that everything I do should be original.

“It has been proven that a person can go far if they are authentic, which is something I always want to portray.

He rethought back to his first video content, a week after Valentine’s Day this year, when the idea of how grandparents are supportive to their grandchildren.

He said grandparents always stay with their grandchildren while parents are away, making them witnesses and learn a lot of things.

Ndlandla therefore did a video thereafter, depicting those dynamics. The video currently stands on 125 000 views and 6 000 likes.

“I make a video and in between I will be singing just to make the video lively. My content is about an old lady who is dramatic in different situations,” Ndlandla said.

The ambitious and resilient 23-year old age hopes to partner with many brands that are looking for influencers because he is able to attract a large audience. He gets what he wants because he has a lot of patience.

He says his target market starts from 13 upwards because the content he does is very much close to home.

He says there are children who recognise him when they see him, and imitate him a lot.
