Legislators from nine political parties on Monday proclaimed support for embattled Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro amid moves by his own All Basotho Convention to push him to stand down in favour of new ABC leader Nkaku Kabi.
The parties endorsed Majoro at press conference held at the state house. They were led by 11 of the ABC pro-Majoro members of parliament and the ABC’s alliance partner the Democratic Congress; the rest were the pair’s ‘partners’ the Basotho National Party, Reformed Congress of Lesotho, Popular Front for Democracy, National Independence Party, Movement For Economic Change, Basutoland Congress Party.
Majoro said: “the chaos that transpired in parliament last week has sent shockwaves across the nation. So, as members of parliament, were felt obliged to put the confusion to bed once and for all by publicly demonstrating where our allegiances lie. It is evident that the government I lead continues to command numerical superiority in parliamentary.”
