The newly elected leader of the All Basotho Convention (ABC) has acknowledged the dilemma facing the party’s legislators regarding the position of Prime Minister.
Kabi said this at Likotsi in the Qeme constituency on Sunday, in his maiden making address as party leader since his election two weeks ago. He pipped Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro to the position.
His election triggered rumblings in sections of the party, with some calling for Majoro to step down so Kabi can ascend the premiership position. An attempt to eject Majoro aborted when a no-confidence motion against him was withdrawn on Friday.
Kabi admitted the sensitivity of the matter, which appears to have split ABC legislators into two camps.
However, he told his supporters to trust the party’s leadership to resolve the impasse.
