The acting minister of health Motlohi Maliehe announced this week that learners who were attending classes on rotational basis will now return to normal attendance.
This, according to Maliehe was due to a decreased number of infections due to the Covid-19.
All the learners -including pupils and students in different institutions- will now attend classes on daily basis.
He announced that the cabinet agreed to lift Covid-19 school attendance restrictions after obtaining an advice from the experts in the National Covid-19 Secretariat.
However, he urged Basotho to continue following the Covid-19 safety regulations “because the virus is still infectious.” Those are wearing of face masks, keeping social distance and washing hands frequently with running water and soap or sanitizing.
He warned that the ministry of education will follow up with an outline stipulating how and when the changes will be effected.
However, some schools already had their learners attending classes daily while others continued to study on rotational basis.
But some parents are still sceptical about the cabinet decision saying they feared for their children who might be exposed to health risks. They foresee that ptorocols such as social distancing and washing of hands with soap will be difficult for some schools to abide by.
Others welcomed the move saying they were still paying for school expenses including school fees and transportation for others.
