Jhpiego Lesotho has introduced a new project which will see it offering different health services and engaging in public awareness campaigns every Friday and Saturday at the Moshoeshoe I Monument Park.

The organisation says it intends to offer a number of services at one place, thereby giving people a chance to decide which services they are in need of, from voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC), PreP, Covid-19 vaccinations for children from 12 years and adults.

The project commenced on January 28th and is expected to come to an end in the last week of this month.

Speaking to theReporter on Tuesday, Jhpiego project director, ‘Malisebo Mphale said the organisation began this initiative on January 28 and it is expected to end in the last weekend of February.

“However, we will extend it if need be. We came up with the idea to host this activity at the Moshoeshoe I Monument Park because we noticed that there are a lot of people who pass there on daily basis, particularly the youth who are our main target audience.

“We thought it wise to provide different health services at a visit that a person makes. Voluntary medical male circumcision services will be offered to those aged 15 and above, integrating them with Covid-19 vaccinations, PreP and HIV testing.”

Mphale indicated that Jhpiego decided to add Covid-19 vaccines to their services after noticing that the rate at which people are vaccinating has slowed down in the country.

She concluded by revealing that their partners Population Services International (PSI) and Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) have also come on board to assist them with more services and raising awareness on health matters.
