Sesiu Sa Letṧoele Le Beta Poho, a Lesotho private sector-led relief initiative today, handed over 60,000 doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to the government of Lesotho.

Sesiu Sa Letṧoele Le Beta Poho is a grouping of local corporates and business moguls who have banded together to establish a fund to sponsor efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The chairman of Sesiu Sa Letṧoele Le Beta Poho Sam Matekane said Sesiu is proud to have crossed the milestone of purchasing and importing another batch of vaccines for the nation.

Matekane said that all of this could have not been achieved without the support of members, corporates, small to medium businesses and individuals who have come together to pledge their time and resources to the cause of saving people’s lives.

Matekane also thanked the Embassy of People’s Republic of China for facilitating the production and storage of the vaccines.

“We also thank the ministry of health for their efforts of fighting Covid-19; we continue to cherish this relationship and look forward to Lesotho winning the fight against this virus.

“Sesiu has also together with the ministry of health engaged VXPASS, a block chain system that will help with collection of vaccination data in real time.

“This will help the ministry in tracking how many people have vaccinated and issue reports even remotely,” Matekane said.
