Local rapper Upper Xx released his most recent single titled Molisana this week portraying a shepherd and his sweet vocals.
Born Tlotleho Ramosoeu, the artist considers himself as a highly creative individual “because I believe I produce good music.”
Born and bred in Teyateyaneng in the district of Berea, Upper Xx explained to theReporter that for him to release or write a song he needs to have a dark experience which he has gone through while seeing the world in a whole new perspective.
The talented artist says sampling has helped him to produce the new song which he regards as one of the best hits to hit the music scene.
Upper Xx suggested that sampling is about shepherds having a conversation … “hela morui ee, ke molisana ke lisa manemane…but it is actually money-money.”
The former DJ obtains his samples from the YouTube.
“My upbringing was surrounded by people who were western-minded, and I decided to go back to my roots. I thought about what I actually liked and discovered that I like Sesotho culture, hence my other songs Puo, Ke Matekoane, which have brought me into the limelight and another hit Melielietsane.
“My songs hinge on how I am and how I think. Music helps me somehow to escape reality,” he remarked.
He continued: “In the year 2021 I suffered depression. I would sit in my room and play the loudest music. It helped me forget everything that was going on my life,” he said.
The 21-year old singer is inspired by Ntate Stunna because of how he rose to fame; he says that people actually thought he was not serious about music.
But now he is rising to great heights both locally and internationally.
The rapper who rose to fame in 2021 said he will release a mini album this year called Nakafela which is to be a mixture of “what I hear everywhere.”
Molisana is available on all digital stream platforms; YouTube, iTunes and Spotify.
