The ministry of health of December 10 has announced plans to launch a vaccination campaign on Wednesday this week, specifically targeting children aged between 12 and 17 inclusively.

The children will receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, which the ministry says requires special handling and storage.

“It has to be stored in a refrigerator in temperatures between -70°C and -80°C. In preparation to start vaccination for children of the said ages, the vaccine will be taken to refrigerators from Monday in order for it to start melting. This is done so it can be administered in liquid form.

“The districts that will be among the first to start vaccination include Maseru, Leribe, Berea le Mafeteng. The remaining districts will follow immediately after the selected four have begun. The ministry urges all parents and guardians of the eligible children to avail them at designated health centres.

“All citizens who still remain unvaccinated for Covid-19 are also reminded to do so with immediate effect as the rate of infections is rapidly increasing again.”
