The minister of agriculture, food security and marketing Nkaku Kabi has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the press attaché to Prime Minister Buta Moseme on Sunday, King Letsie III has welcomed the advice from the Prime Minister Dr Majoro to withdraw Kabi from office.
The deputy minister of agriculture, food security and marketing Letsitsi Mokoma will serve as acting minister for the time being.
Kabi had previously served as minister health between 2017 and 2020, and as minister of water from May 2020 to August this year.
His removal comes amid a fresh bout of infighting within the ruling All Basotho Convention, which saw party spokesperson Montoeli Masoetsa announcing that the party’s national executive committee had resolved to recall Majoro and replace him with Kabi. He is the ABC’s deputy secretary general.
