Vibrant gospel lover, Lerato ‘Mote, has decided to go up a notch by making cover songs for gospel artist.
The 19 –year- old public administration and political science student said personally she is able to communicate her feelings and express through gospel songs.
“I have been a person who likes music and enjoys singing so I want people to hear my voice because I am a music lover.
“When I feel sad, a gospel song comes to mind and I just sing it and I feel relieved afterwards.
“Being able to do gospel song covers means I am able to communicate with people spiritually. I think it is a good way of expressing one’s feelings and that does not compare to any other genre,” Lerato echoed.
Lerato, who is also very loud and social, explained by telling theReporter that making cover songs means singing a song with or without instruments in a way that one would be touched. One has to sing a song that makes one to be comfortable.
She said she does covers mostly on Sundays for her social media platform WhatsApp status viewers to see, adding that “it is nothing big because no artist could see it.”
“I did a cover for South African gospel artist Lebo Sekgobela’s song called ‘Morena oa Poloko’ which gained more recognition in a short time. Fortunately, I did it on social media platform Instagram, Lebo reposted it and until today I am very grateful for that,” she exclaimed.
Hailing from Koalabata, the down to earth Lerato disclosed that she will not only focus on gospel songs as she has also focused her attention to Afro pop and Afro soul music.
She talked of how sees herself more in South African Afro pop artist Lady Zama as well as Lebo.
Lerato also revealed she is part of a local musical group called 4_sear where the members tag an artist they have covered hoping that the particular artist can see the work they do.
