Insurance giant, Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG) handed over basic needs to SOS Children’s Village in Maseru Friday this week as means to combat COVID-19 and fight hunger amongst the children living at SOS.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, managing director of LNIG Mpho Vumbukani said that LNIG and SOS have a long standing relationship.

Vumbukani mentioned that LNIG’s motto is to protect Lesotho’s economy and as such LNIG is helping in the growth of the children.
SOS Children’s Village has been working in Lesotho since 1998. The organisations has provided both emergency relief as well as permanent aid to vulnerable children and young people in the country.

SOS Children’s Village works in more than 130 countries to support families and help children at risk grow up in a loving home.
On behalf of the SOS children and caregivers, ‘Makarabelo Mokhemisa expressed gratitude to LNIG.
She said doing more for less is another strategy for SOS, and continued to say that to put friends is SOS’s motto after realising that SOS cannot do anything alone.

“We grow the nation; from villagers of SOS, we thank LNIG wholeheartedly and it is through this partnership that we will be able to choose what to eat due to the variety presented today,” Mokhemisa said.
The children were given basic needs such as filled gas cylinders, tinned fish and beef, sugar, sanitizer, milk, tea, maize meal and soap.
